EASTER 2026

Easter, like a lot of things in life, has layers. Kind of like those fancy chocolate eggs you tell yourself you’ll “just have one bite of”and then somehow, it’s gone.

It doesn’t come in loud. It doesn’t kick the door down like Christmas. It doesn’t demand attention. It’s softer. It’s in the way the light lasts a little longer. In the air that doesn’t sting your face anymore. In that tiny, almost unnoticeable shift where things feel… possible again.

And if we’re being honest, we all need that. Because life - real life - isn’t pastel. It’s messy, exhausting, unpredictable, and sometimes it feels like we’re pushing uphill in boots that don’t fit.  Often, those shifts show up in moments we don’t expect.

The Kind of Moment That Doesn’t Look Big - But Is

This Easter feels a bit different for me. Not because of something loud or headline-worthy. Actually, the opposite. It was a quiet meeting.

Just another mom and I, sitting down with the Minister and our MPP. No crowd. No big moment. No dramatic speeches. Just a conversation. And yet… it mattered. Because sometimes the most important things don’t happen on a stage. They happen across a table. We spoke about families. About real-life needs. About something that sounds simple but somehow isn’t: CHOICE.

Walking out of that room at Queen’s Park, there wasn’t a big “we did it” feeling. It was quieter than that. More like… we said what needed to be said. And sometimes, that’s the beginning of everything.

Not Just a Story - A Feeling

Whether you’re religious, spiritual, somewhere in between, or just here for the mini eggs (no judgment), the message of Easter lands the same: At its core, it’s about renewal - about things rising again, even when they’ve been through something hard. Things that feel stuck can move. Things that feel heavy can lift. Things that feel over… might not be. It’s hope but not the fluffy kind. The real kind. The kind that shows up when you’re tired but keep going anyway. The kind that whispers, “try again tomorrow,” even when today was a lot.

“Starting Over”

We love the idea of fresh starts. But Easter reminds us that starting over doesn’t always look neat.

Sometimes it looks like: Showing up to a meeting when you don’t know what will come of it.  Saying what matters, even if it doesn’t land right away. Having the same conversation again… because it still matters.  Walking away without guarantees but still believing it was worth it.  That’s not failure. That’s forward.

We’re all looking for the same thing: A reason to believe things can shift. Here’s the part we don’t talk about enough: Most of us are in the middle of something. Not at the beginning. Not at the finish line. Just… in it. Still trying. Still hoping. Still figuring things out. And that’s exactly where Easter meets us. Not when everything is resolved. But when we’re still showing up anyway.

Sitting with my thoughts, I keep coming back to that meeting.  It wasn’t answers. It wasn’t a clear outcome. It was something smaller but just as important. It reminded me that even quiet steps count.

That speaking honestly matters. That showing up - even when you don’t know the outcome, is part of the work. And if you’ve ever advocated for someone you love, or even just tried to move something forward in your own life, you know this: It’s not always big moments. It’s a series of small ones that add up.

Hope isn’t about waiting. It’s about continuing.

It looks like: Having the conversation. Taking the meeting. Saying the thing. Trying again.  Even when nothing has changed… yet.  We’re all just doing our best.

We don’t need big moments to make progress. We don’t need everything to fall into place right away. Sometimes, it’s just about: showing up and trusting that even the quiet steps are moving something forward

And Maybe That’s the Real Message of Easter

Not perfection. Not instant change. But movement. Slow, steady, sometimes invisible movement. The kind that starts with a conversation. The kind that grows over time. The kind that reminds us… it’s not over just because it’s not finished.

So, this Easter, whether you’re surrounded by family, quietly reflecting, or reaching for just one more mini egg…

Remember this: Not everything meaningful is loud. Some of the most important things we do… barely make a sound at all. But they matter. And sometimes…

That’s exactly how change begins.
